employees across the board were getting a pay cut. The two combined spelled financial trouble. We had never been late on any of our bills so we were looking for
a good solution. After speaking to Lisa she had informed me of the process, which incurred a month or two of late fees but reassured me that they will be taken
care of in the long run. We received the late phone calls that we were aware would come, but once they received the letters, the calls stopped. With caller ID I
called the numbers back, since they don't leave messages, and found out who they were. This way when the number showed up again I knew not to answer. We
did have one company that didn't want us on the program but their own and we are taking care of that one on our own. But like Lisa had said, the interest rates
were reduced and each month when the statements come they show the payments are received. And the letters from the companies do state that the interest rates
will be removed and they are encouraging that we made a right choice to get assistance. We feel we made the right choice and feel there is hope for a pay off

In October I took a trip up north for my sister’s wedding. My kids weren’t used to the cold, and both of my kids ended up sick. My one year old daughter’s cold was
so severe... It had come to this: I was making decisions about my child’s health based on money....at that point I knew I was in trouble......My husband and I aren’t
flashy people by any stretch of the imagination. We drive older used cars, but keep no auto loans. We own a moderate house in a decent neighborhood. We’re
both hard working individuals – he works full time, and I work 2 part time jobs so that one of us is always home with our children. We’re both college graduates from
a private institution, so between the two of us, we’re close to $100,000 in student loan debt. And even though we live a moderate lifestyle, we’d managed to build
up around $20,000 in credit card debt. It was just life getting in the way – I’d lost my job at the end of each of my pregnancies, so credit cards became our means
for groceries while unemployment and the job searches played out. Daycare expenses were charged while I transitioned back to work for a second time. Travel
expenses for funerals, holidays and weddings for family up north were charged to the credit card. Business expenses as I worked to get set up from working from
home were charged. Home repairs – a broken washer, refrigerator and roof all in the same week – all went on the credit cards. There were, of course, the luxuries
of eating out, buying clothes and shoes, but generally speaking our credit cards had been our lifeline. We became dependant on them, without realizing what we
were doing...We’re at the beginning of a long road, but finally it’s a road that’s going somewhere. We’re just over four years away from being credit card free, and I
cannot fully express what that actually means to us. Once we finish the Paradise Christian Debt Solutions program, we will have an extra $500 each month in our
budget. The time frame could not be more perfect - we had discussed revisiting the idea of moving back north, my going to seminary, going on missions trips and
taking real family vacations. It’s a new start for us, and because we are so thrilled about being able to get back to what God called us to be – free from bondage –
we have referred Paradise Christian Debt Solutions to my husband’s parents, who ultimately joined the program and are on their way to financial freedom.
One of the things that strike me over and over again is that people will remind me that being a part of a debt solutions program is nothing to be embarrassed or
ashamed about. Never once have I been ashamed about the process we’ve taken to get out of debt. Truthfully, I’m not really ashamed of my debt in and of itself –
that’s something I’ve reconciled with God, and I won’t let guilt and fear control my future the way it had a grip on me in the past. Getting out of debt is nothing to be
ashamed of – living in debt and never caring how it’s impacting your ability to impact the Kingdom is.
I’m pleased that I was able to acknowledge that the issue was bigger than just money, and that God was faithful in putting the right people along my path to get me
