instead of our commitment to the Lord. The Lord speaks very clearly on this subject
when He states, " No servant can serve two masters. Either he will hate the one
and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You
cannot serve both God and Money." Luke 16:13 .In addition, debt is a form of
bondage and slavery: "Just as the rich rule the poor, so the borrower is slave to
the lender.";Prov: 22:7. Also, if you are in debt your focus is not on promoting
God's kingdom which He clearly instructs us to do: "Go therefore and make
disciples of all the nations... teaching them to observe all things that I have
commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19. Debt is a distraction that causes us to lose out on the blessings
that God has in store for our lives by diminishing our health and spiritual focus,
disabling the freedom in Christ we all should be enjoying, and robbing us of our
peace.
